Airman posthumously receives Medal of Honor
The White House announced July 27, 2018, that Air Force Tech. Sgt. John Chapman will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor Aug. 22, for his extraordinary heroism during the Battle of Takur Ghar, Afghanistan, in March 2002.

Air Force transfers cyber responsibility to ACC
Air Force officials announced the service’s cyber responsibilities will realign to Air Combat Command from Air Force Space Command.

AF announces changes to Courses 14 and 15
Effective immediately, Air Force officials have removed the requirement to complete Courses 14 and 15 for all Airmen serving in the active component. Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Airmen will have the option to complete their enlisted professional military education through distance learning or in-residence attendance.

Colonels offered chance to voluntarily serve past 30 years
The Line of the Air Force Colonel Continuation Board will begin in January, allowing eligible members to voluntarily serve an additional three years past the active-duty retirement time of 30 years.

Do you have what it takes to ‘Hack the Air Force’?
The Air Force is inviting vetted computer security specialists from across the U.S. and select partner nations to do their best to hack some of its key public websites. The initiative is part of the Cyber Secure campaign sponsored by the Air Force’s Chief Information Office as a measure to further operationalize the domain and leverage talent from both within and outside the Defense Department.
