The 960th Cyberspace Wing was announced as a recipient of the Air Force Meritorious Unit Award, Nov. 25, 2020.

The award was given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in direct support of combat operations from Oct. 1, 2018, to Sept. 30, 2019.

During this period, the 960th CW trained and equipped Reserve Citizen Airmen to extend, operate, defend, engage and win the fight in, from and through cyberspace.

With 17 direct reporting units consisting of more than 13,000 cyber professionals, the wing proved vital in the delivery of the Air Force’s first-ever title 10 Cyberspace Operations.

This effort resulted in the inaugural cyberspace intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance cyber-effect operational response option, ultimately safeguarding $3.8 billion in critical infrastructure.

Moreover, the wing championed the Air Force’s first cloud-based weapons system, taking the idea to initial operating capability in less than 75 days to slash threat containment time by 99.6% and outpace the fastest advanced persistent threat.

Finally, the wing orchestrated the numbered Air Force’s first defensive cyberspace operations task force by integrating the capabilities from four Air Combat Command and Air Mobility Command wings to guarantee command and control for the air operation center’s mobility air forces.

The professionalism and dedication to duty demonstrated by the members of the 960th CW reflect great credit upon themselves and the United States Air Force.
