Gladiators in action

Home, historic, home

A historic photo of the Enola Gay and her ground crew. This aircraft, a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber, has been immortalized in history as the aircraft that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima during the Second World War. The aircraft was flown by Col. Paul Tibbets, who named the plane in honor of his mother. (Courtesy photo)
