Gladiators in action

Home, historic, home

A historic photo of Bock's Car, a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber, credited with dropping the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki, three days after the Enola Gay dropped the first one on Hiroshima in August 1945. Bock's Car was part of the same squadron as the Enola Gay, the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, Heavy, of the 509th Composite Group. It was named after its commander Capt. Frederick C. Bock who, along with his crew C-13, participated in several bombing runs on Japan prior to dropping of the two atomic bombs. (Courtesy photo)
